Dynamic respiratory endoscopy (overground or exercising endoscopy) is one of the most important advances in equine veterinary practice in recent years. It is an endoscopic examination of the horse’s upper airway whilst under exercising conditions. The exercising examination allows detection of abnormalities that are otherwise not apparent when examined in your horse at rest.
The endoscope is fitted to the bridle and well tolerated by horses. The video recording of the horses airway function is then viewed frame by frame by experienced clinicians and specialist surgeons for accurate diagnosis, ensuring the most appropriate and optimum husbandry, medical and surgical options for your horse are discussed.
-
REC Equine Specialists ambulatory veterinarians routinely perform endoscopic examinations in the field for a variety of reasons. Video endoscopic examination allows direct high-quality visualisation of a range of internal structures, including the upper airways (nasal passages, larynx, trachea and bronchi) and the stomach & upper small intestine (gastroscopy).

Our team of ambulatory veterinarians are equipped with the latest high quality digital radiography. This mobile technology allows radiographic examination of injuries ‘in the field’ if it is considered unsafe to transport the horse, or it may just be more convenient than travelling the horse to the clinic.

Our team of ambulatory veterinarians are equipped with the latest high quality ultrasound equipment. This imaging instrumentation is most commonly used for evaluating soft tissue injuries including tendon & ligament injuries, lower respiratory tract infections, cardiovascular disease and colic amongst many other conditions.
