Dentistry
Oral and dental health has a significant impact on a horse’s well-being, performance, and lifespan. REC Equine Specialists surgeons have extensive experience in the treatment of a wide range of routine and more complicated dental conditions. Our team provide comprehensive dental care services, including routine oral tooth extractions, surgical extraction, wiring and repair of jaw fractures, and sinus surgery.
At REC Specialist Equine Centre routine dental diagnostics such as radiographs and oral videoendoscopy are complimented by advanced CT imaging of the head. Head CT examinations are safely and routinely able to be performed in the standing horse with the use of sedation.
These imaging modalities allow a more accurate diagnosis and treatment of the complete range of dental problems such as diseased or fractured cheek teeth, secondary sinusitis, and Equine Odontoclastic Tooth Resorption and Hypercementosis (EOTRH).
